I feel almost giddy with delight that I have made it to the last week!
Today’s prompt (which you can read here) was to write a poem for an occasion. Apparently, they are called occasional poems…
Life
Eighteen, twenty-one, the big-five-oh;
a useless count of birthdays, decades;
you can’t fillet those slippery years
into weddings, proms, Bank Holidays.
Stop rotating through Wimbledons,
Cup Finals, the National: however grand,
they won’t stop life’s salt-swift flow
through your wide open hand.
Count moments instead
if you want to feel it pass.
Be present, stay in time.
Count here. Now. Count this.

Aww thanks Val! Your comments are much appreciated. It’s been a bit intense, doing a poem every day – but a good experience!
